Ashraf was born in Kabul, Afghanistan. He has been living in Bulgaria since 2016 as a refugee. In 2023, he obtainedBulgarian citizenship.
Ashraf graduated from high school in 2011 and studied English privately. He started studying Computer Science but was unable to complete his studies due to the political situation in Afghanistan. Before leaving the country, Ashraf worked as an interpreter at the Australian Embassy.
His personal experience as a refugee makes him passionate about helping others through the hardships that accompany building a new life abroad. He is a cultural mediator with Farsi at the Council of Refugee Women in Bulgaria. Ashraf is also an active member of the Refugee Advisory Board.
