Ildiko Otova joins the FAR team in spring 2021 as an expert in projects and programmes.

She holds a PhD in Political Science from New Bulgarian University, a laureate of the Mozer Scholarship for excellence in Political science studies and civil courage. She has specialized in Belgium, England, and France.

She has many years of experience in a number of Bulgarian research centres and NGOs and as a lecturer at New Bulgarian University and Sofia University. Over the years she has gained experience in working on various projects in the field of migration, integration, refugee policies, populism and the far right. She is the author of “Migration and Populism in Bulgaria” (Routledge, 2021, co-authored). External expert to the European Commission.
